ANSI ESC-sequences to color gemtext   gemini

Looking at this entry via a web client doesn't make much sense.

Today I found out - some gemini clients accept ANSI ESC-sequences, as we know them from the terminal, to show colors. Nice ;).

#ANSI Escape Sequences for color

as it seems - some gemini clients accept and interpret the ESC-codes.

Clients supporting ESC-sequences for color (AFAIK)

  • Lagrange (has issues if there is a line-wrap during a colored string)
  • elpher (the only one, who - so far - fully supports ANSI-sequences) Clients NOT supporting ESC-sequences for color (AFAIK)
  • Elaho (on iOS)
  • Amfora (I am a little bit suprised, because amfora is actually for the terminal?)

UPDATE:

have a look at a rant against using colors in gemini. Sounds rather valid.
